Safe Deposit Boxes

4 Reasons to Consider Getting a Safe Deposit Box

1. Great place to store any important documents. Good candidates include originals of key documents, such as birth certificates, property deeds, car titles, and copies of loan papers. Other possibilities include family keepsakes, valuable collections, pictures or videos of your home's contents for insurance purposes, and external hard drives with sentimental family pictures or videos.

You probably wouldn't want to use your bank safe deposit box to store anything you might need to access quickly, perhaps on a night, weekend or holiday. That could include passports and originals of your "powers of attorney" that authorize others to transact business or make decisions about medical care on your behalf. For guidance on where to store your original will, check with an attorney about what is required or recommended based on state law.

2. A home safe isn't a true replacement for a bank's safe deposit box. A home safe may be good for replaceable items you may need immediate access to – such as a passport – but home safes are not as secure as safe deposit boxes. A burglar could more easily break into your home, force you to open the safe or haul off the entire safe and access the contents than get inside your safe deposit box. Additionally, an in-home safe isn’t all that great because 1. Based on its fire rating, what is stored inside of it isn’t protected from heat damage for very long, especially digital items, 2. Almost all at-home safes are only water resistant, not waterproof, so a fire hose putting out a house fire can still damage the contents, 3.If a natural disaster destroys your home your stuff is gone.

3. Our safe deposit boxes are in large industrial strength heavy duty vaults.  It is always good to keep some important items outside of your home.  The two most common home destroying elements around central Illinois are fires and tornadoes.  Our heavy duty vaults are designed to withstand such disasters.

 4. It’s cheap! See our pricing chart below.
